nice Will ... i found a beat up copy of the original vinyl LP by Barry McGuire while wandering through a flea market in Kentucky, circa '85ish; it still plays wonderfully, and the lyrics do still resonate; i remember another track off that album that was pretty interesting: The Sins Of The Family (Fall On The Daughter) ... however, no lyrics; maybe cream-puff-war can locate them?

"Sins Of A Family" was written by P.F. Sloan (as was "Eve Of Destruction").

I remember that Barry McGuirre protest song very well. Music meant something in those days. Our ignorant parents didn't even realize that "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" was also a protest song against the lying media news outlets. "Fortunate Son" was dedicated to the chickenshit politicians (Quayle, Clinton and Bush Jr etc.) They weren't gonna put down the books, pick up a gun and fight their own wars.

There was a deluge of songs like that by dozens of artists a more than enough for a pile of CDs. AM radio used to be good about 40 years ago. I went full time Grateful Dead and other Frisco bands with the birth of KMPX and KSAN.

Now, the RIAA is just pushing garbage from Amerikan Idol, Brittney Spears and the like.
